In 1878 a group of German Americans in the Bremen, KS area joined together to help a neighbor after a fire loss and formed an organization called the "Friendly Fire Society". From these roots, on May 2, 1888, Bremen Farmers Mutual Insurance Company was created - chartered by the Kansas Insurance Department to offer property and casualty insurance throughout the state of Kansas.
Although the initial Friendly Fire Society had a German background, the newly chartered company was designed to provide insurance products regardless of nationality. Today, Bremen Farmers Mutual continues the spirit of a mutual insurance company by providing high quality insurance protection that benefits its Kansas policyholders rather than stockholders located in far away places.
