In 1878 a group of German Lutherans in the Bremen, KS area banded together to help a neighbor after a fire loss forming the "Friendly Fire Society". From these roots, on May 2, 1888, Bremen Farmers Mutual Insurance Company was chartered. Although the initial Friendly Fire Society had a Lutheran background, the newly chartered company was designed to write insurance regardless of religious denomination. Today the company continues the spirit of a mutual insurance company providing Homeowner, Farmowner, Dwelling Fire, Inland Marine, and Businessowner protection for the entire state of Kansas through a network of over 200 professional independent insurance agencies spread throughout the state.
